Happy Diwali & Vikram Samvat 2072

So, the festival has gone as suddenly as it had arrived. Your colorful diyas now protectively hold tiny pools of melted wax and ash. Your rangolis are still radiant, albeit slightly disheveled.

As you walk on the streets this morning, you catch sight of last night's celebrations all around, and you probably see or hear yourself and your loved ones laughing, in that very spot that someone cracked a joke yesterday. Friends and extended family have now gone back home, making promises to meet again soon.

The sweets and savories have now been stored away, and will be served at tea-time, as mementos of Diwali. The clothes and jewellery that you chose with great care, that made their grand appearance yesterday, have been put away for the next big occasion.

As all the festivities slowly recede into the distance, I ask you for a promise... that in your heart, you will let the lights remain. That in spirit, and in being, your celebrations will continue... that you will attempt to meet your loved ones a little more often and that the laughter that came in abundance yesterday, will make an appearance everyday.

Here's wishing you all a happy festive spirit, all year round.

Lots of love and laughter,
Hardik

Kabhi Waqt Mile to Sochna..

Ye duniya bhi kitni nirali hai,
Kabhi waqt mile to sochna!

Kabhi choti si chot lagne pe rote the,
aaj dil tut jaane pe bhi sambhal jate hai!

Pehle hum dosto k sath rehte the,
aaj dosto ki yaadon me rehte hai!

Pehle ladna manana roz ka kam tha,
aaj ek bar ladte he to rishte kho jate hai!

Sach me zindagi ne bahut kuch sikha dia,
jane kab hmko itna bada bana diya!

Time... plz go slow

Most things in life come unexpected, so this morning...

Woke up early both me and my wife and she decided to make a super cup of hot tea.  It was amazing weather post rain last night and with tea and wonderful conversion about the world we live in, our lives and lives of people we know, I felt it was one of that small pebbles of life, a memory worth cherishing... Tuning on to Radio One and listening to evergreen songs in background added the much needed spice to the atmosphere...

Well I have always heard from elders telling to get up early from bed and enjoy the nature around us and I almost enjoyed this after long time.  A thought cross my mind, can't we tell time to go slow.. there are still numerous memories to be created and cherished...

Drenching in Rain !!!

With almost second rainy season in Bangalore after I shifted here, I was not much happy (just like other Bangalorean) with almost no Rains till mid-July. With my first season experience, it rained almost daily in Bangalore from early April till late August.  But this time it was delayed, more in line with entire India's rain statistics.

Today was different, right from afternoon, it felt so hot and cloudy that I was hoping that it would rain today evening or late night, but with recent hide and seek by rain, i was no were certain of rains.  By the time I came out of the controlled environment of office (should I say cozy office), I saw few drops of rain falling on me and my bike.  Just like any normal person, I too sighed, 'not now... let me reach home'.  Though that was not my inner soul wanted to say, but the worldly worries definitely overtook my inner voice, perhaps that happens a lot with me.

Somehow, God did listened to me, or probably had pity on me and the dizzle stopped immediately and just like normal office going guy, I zoomed towards home with thought of overlooking outer ring road friday traffic from my cozy balcony along with wife and a cup of hot coffee.  However, nature had its own plan being directed for me.  I was about to reach home, just about 2 kms away from my place, it started raining heavily.  Again, the worldly thought, can't it wait five more minutes, but this time, probably there was no one to listen.

I stopped my bike underneath a huge tree, good enough to spare me from the heavy rain for little while.  I saw lot of people parking their 2 wheelers near by the bus stop to take shelter under the rarely used bus stop and save themselves from rain.  Just as I was observing this, I saw a small boy passing on footpath enjoying the rains, immediately I can relate him to my past, how wonderful days we used to have when it first rained in usually hot Gujarat.

The glimpse of boy enjoying in rain was enough for me to hear my own inner voice, probably asking me when I last fully enjoyed rain? and I as usual failed to get an answer of it.  I decided to forget everything and enjoy the rains... as if there is no tomorrow.  I put all my worldly prized possessions, my wallet, my cellphone into my backpack and came out the shadow of tree to enjoy rain.  I started my bike and raced it towards my home, with empty streets and crowded temporary shelters like, trees, bus stops, shop gates.  It was hardly 5 to 7 minute ride, but without helmet and without any worries of world, it was just amazing.  This was a moment I enjoyed after a long long time and would be a memory to cherish long long time.

I remembered, how when first showers hit Rajkot, we used to celebrate and go for long walks in flooding streets and how mom used to prepare 'bhajiyas'.  I recollected one of my most happiest day of college, when we, group of friends, completely rain drenched drove from our college in outskirts of Rajkot to home in completely empty highway.  I remembered how under heavy rains we traveled to college to give exams, just to discover that due to heavy rains, exams have been called off.  What amazing days were those, yes I didn't had expensive bike or mobile or laptop, but had that peace of mind to do whatever my inner self wished for me.

Today's this short period, I relived my past for few moments, but it left me with an question, would I be able to overcome worldly wishes and able to hear back again to my 'inner' self?.  Well currently looks like the quest for answer to this question is surely going to long time.

For the memory of this wonderful day, attaching the photo of the day, one of most memorable in recent time....

Curiosity of Bus Conductor for Knowledge...

I generally go to office in my two-wheeler but nowadays, for some reason I take a bus.  Most of the buses from my place are never empty but today, I was lucky to fine one good place to sit.  I was sitting at my place & as usual reading book I carry along with me, this time it was 'Connect the Dot' by Rashmi Bansal.

Few minutes after, I was surprised to see conductor coming to me and asking me to lift the book so that he can read the cover page of the book, probably interested in the title of the book.  Quite surprising, as in Bangalore I have not come across conductors who prefer English as language, they more resort to Kannada, local language of Karnataka.

What was going to happen next was the thing which was going to take me to next step of my surprise and probably an important incident to motivate this post.

Conductor gave me a chit and a pen and humbly (they are not so often, this guy was surely different) asked me to write down the name of the book.  Surprised and happy to it, I wrote on chit and gave it to him.  Story doesn't end here... I observe him putting the chit into his personal pocket, giving me a feeling, he is going to get the book or read it somehow.

The passion of this guy to know and gain knowledge, reinstated my belief in phrase 'expect the unexpected', for whatever he is going to do with the chit or the book, he is more curious to going knowledge, which is very important. This guy will very well go down in my memory because this are those little pearls which is generally neglected in one's life.
